The Indian Convention…
I went to an Indian convention today because independence day was yesterday. Unfortunately I didn’t get many photos. However, the turnover rate for photos taken to photos worth looking at was pretty high so I’m still satisfied with the final result. Here they are….

And there were plenty of raw materials too for making your own stuff.
I like this one… I got a lot of invites to temples and hindu magazines and papers. :) I don’t plan to go but this was definitely a religiously charged event. I did see some people from work though.
And then this one, I took on accident with the exposure way too high. I made it black and white and it turned out kinda cool.
And completely unrelated, my kitty. :) Sleeping.
Review: Tropic Thunder
I walked into Tropic Thunder thinking…”Eh….it can’t be that good, I mean, come on, it’s a Ben Stiller movie”.
Holy crap it was hilarious. So sooo crass, but hilarious!
Seriously, the “trailers” at the beginning of the movie alone were worth the ticket price. And wow…you can actually buy Booty Sweat , a product in one of the trailers, online at Amazon. I wonder if Amazon will actually ship it to you? Anyway, that’s some sweet marketing.
Hype aside, the movie actually lets all its key roles play parts they really do well. Robert Downey Jr. is nothing short of amazing in this movie. He has some really sweet skills because he seriously plays the black dude perfectly. The dialogue between him and the real black guy is just priceless.
And Tom Cruise? He actually redeems himself a little with this part. He plays a total ass that dances to rap and seriously, it’s hilarious.
Okay, the movie is so crazy I can’t really explain it all on here without sounding like I have no taste in movies. Just go see it. But maybe after a beer or two, haha. In all honesty, it’s a really fun movie to watch with a group of friends, or just one really special silly one. :) YMMV!
As for all the folks that are “offended” at this movie, please. Just go get a sense of humor.
Anyway, 9/10 stars!
By the way, here are some movies I bet you didn’t see coming. Dragonball is slated to open in 2009. That’s right, as in Dragon Ball Z. Hey, you never know, it might actually be good!
Other movies I’m looking forward to are: 007: Quantum of Solace, Punisher: War Zone, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, and The Day The Earth Stood Still.

A quick recap of movies I’ve seen recently….
You must watch The Dark Knight. Although I feel the performances by both Gyllenhaal and Bale were bland at best, Ledger’s performance was really out of this world. I walked in pretty skeptical that his actual performance value was being replaced with hype from his death. Boy was I wrong. The movie was watching if only because the Joker was so..so… perfectly evil. Actually, I liked goody-two-shoes Two-Face’s performance too. :)
Wanted was a surprisingly entertaining movie. The plot twists are good and the overall story goes at a good pace. And really, It’s not nearly as bad as it looks. Jolie needs to put some beef on her arms but that’s just me. :)
The Mummy: Return of the Dragon Emperor….was the asian remix of the mummy. Nothing really extraordinary about this movie, though it’s fun to sit with a good friend and make fun of Brendan Fraser. Jet Li is ageing! But he makes for a good bad guy. I didn’t like that they replaced the female lead but what can you do? The previous actress was much more charismatic than the one they chose for the role this time.
Next week I’m slated for Tropic Thunder (not my idea) and Journey to the Center of the Earth.
