Trillian Astra Web Release
Posted by Sunira under new technology
A good portion of my daily communications is through e-mail and IM, and I’ve become comfortable using my IM client as an e-mail notifier. Because my friends, family and co-workers are all spread across so many different networks and protocols, I wind up having to use services like Meebo, Pidgin, or Miranda to be able to appear online on all my accounts without having 4-5 different applications running at once. I took advantage of Trillian a couple years ago until Pidgin/Gaim came about because pidgin offered almost every utility that Trillian offered at a faster speed and for free. Recently, though, Trillian has once again piqued my interest. The makers of Trillian, Cerulean Studios, have been working on a new version of Trillian, named Trillian Astra and from what little I’ve been able to scrape from the web articles and home site, it looks like a slick little application that has the potential to outdo it’s rivals and look pretty while doing it.The web interface is especially nice since the developers are making it work like a web application without the restraints of the actual browser window. Check it out:

Astra would be great if it would ever get out of alpha testing. I think it’s been in that stage for what, three years now? Have you tried digsby before?
