While I personally don’t believe the world is in any sort of unmanageable eco-crisis that would lead to the need for floating, self sustaining refugee buildings, I sure wouldn’t mind living in one of these pretty floating cities.
The concept is a brainchild of Vincent Callebaut, a visionary architect whose works may just be a century or so ahead of his time. What makes Vincent Callebaut stand out is that all his architecture is well thought out and entirely possible to construct. This is no Photoshop fiend on a pretty-building stint.
There are about 40 more picture depicting the structure in detail on Callebaut’s home project site. While you’re there, you may want to browse through his other works. They’re all very intriguing.
